Njavarakizhi or Shashtikashali pinda swedam is a type of massage inducing sweat and relieving stress. Njavarakizhi is a deeply refreshing and revitalizing massage that is practiced as rejuvenation therapy in order to alleviate joint stiffness due to vata.

Using Njavara (Shashtika Shali) or cooked rice mixed with milk and herbal extract of Kurumthotti (Sida Rhombifolia) tied in cotton boluses called as Kizhis. The ingredients restore harmony to your body chemistry. The kizhis dipped in medicated Ayurvedic oils will be applied all over the body or a specific part of the body to induce sudation.

Njavarakizhi also restores the body’s strength and stability. The therapy slows the ageing process, gives your complexion a radiant appearance and soothes the nerves. Stress is reduced, sleep is promoted and the immune system is strengthened.
